The Toners are back!

Last month Foryoucansee Theater, the theater wing of the CCCV Movement, premiered their theater company with a Reggaeton musical about time travel- THE TONERS: TONERS IN TIME.

Based on the short mockumentary written and directed by Marco Ramirez that premiered at the 2007 Borscht Film Festival, the plays sold out every show. In fact, there were at least 5-20 people who arrived at each show that were unable to be seated.

As a response to this demand, The Toners are coming back for a second run this weekend. A $10 tickets gets you free CCCVs (Jupina and Rum) before the play and the best time you'll have in a live show this side of a tip drill at Stir Crazy.

While everyone was talking about how there isn't an audience for theater in Miami, these guys were talking about how there was no theater being created for Miami's very specific audience. Instead of targeting the geriatric demographic that is typical of South Florida Theater, they attempted to target the younger demographic that may have never been to a play by creating work that is relevant to that audience.

The result?

"Toners in Time: Not just a play, it's an adventure" - Miami Herald

"Toners in Time was a brash creative attempt to get the club crowd to try theater. It worked, and not just because the tickets were only $10 each.

Thanks to a combination of funny writing and acting, booming faux reggaeton, multimedia daring, and a free-flowing combo of Caldas rum and Jupiña (probably the audience's favorite sponsors), the 100 people crammed into New Theatre's too-tight-for-the-Toners quarters realized that original, Miami-centric theater can be fun." - Drama Queen Blog

""...a very different, yet rewarding piece of theatre. The entire show bounced around between being a play, a concert, and a giant Jupina commercial...

Slightly unconventional was Fabregat's performance which, instead of being live, was projected onto a giant screen, something that really set this show/company apart from every other. Ups to Matt Berkowitz for the video...

...Warning: People from Broward might get offended..." - The Playground Blog

"The show is crazy funny, costs just $10 to see, and the free Caldas rum and Jupiña cocktails before the show probably make it even funnier." - Drama Queen Blog (2nd Run)
